Thirteen Years Ago Today, Al Gore Predicted The North Pole Would Be “Completely Ice Free Within The Next Five Years”

On December 13 and 14, 2009 professor, prophet and soothsayer Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap could be completely ice free within the next five to seven years.

Gore made his prediction at COP15 Copenhagen –which ran from Dec 7 to Dec 18, 2009– where he repeatedly referenced “state-of-the-art” computer modeling to suggest that the north polar ice cap may lose all of its ice by 2014.

“Some of the models suggest that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years,” Gore claimed.

“Join me in asking president Obama and the US Senate to set a deadline of 22 April for final action in the US Senate. I do not believe we can wait till next November or December.”

The Guardian wrote on Dec 16, 2009, in an article entitled “Al Gore rallies the troops in Copenhagen“:

“[Gore] kept up the pace by calling for the international community to sign up to a fully fledged climate change treaty by July 2010 – and then announcing that Mexico was prepared to host a deal-making summit.

“He scolded rich countries for demanding the developing world offer evidence of emissions cuts while at the same time trying to inflate the funds they were prepared to offer poor countries to deal with climate change. And he was just as tough on activists who have embraced him as a hero, demanding they set aside their pride and their principles and embrace a deal – no matter how imperfect. He said he recognized their frustration with the glacial pace of negotiations. He agreed that cap-and-trade schemes to cut carbon emissions were an imperfect solution – Gore confessed to favoring a carbon tax – but the current efforts for a deal were the best prospect of avoiding catastrophic climate change.

“And there was no trace of sympathy for opponents of action on climate change. Gore began with a brief run-through of the latest science on melting of the Arctic ice cap, evidence he said “only reckless fools would ignore.”

Well, who’s the fool now…

The summer of 2022 saw impressive ice thickness/extent across the Arctic region.

According to the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), at its lowest point (mid-Sept) Arctic sea ice volume held at around 6,500km3. This is well within the normal range, and also comfortably above 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Eight years on from Al’s doomsday date, summer ice is not only still with us, but growing.

Moreover, Greenland is gaining mass at a record-breaking rate this season (in books dating back to 1981):

Instead of graciously admitting defeat, however, the AGW Party continues to simply extend its ‘countdown to catastrophe’, and the climate-alarmists, activist-scientists and lapdog-of-an-MSM continue to turn a blind eye to their ruse.

In 2018 they gave us another 12 years before ‘climate breakdown’:

And now that that deadline is looking a little ambitious, we have a new prophesy, or rather, prophesies — there seems to be a fresh countdown added each week by some corrupted, non-profit entity which has resulted in a ‘confusion of clocks’:

The latest IPCC report gives 2025 as a hard deadline to get emissions under control; Concordia University’s Climate Clock (it’s actual name) suggests we have at least 10 years to stay within 1.5C of warming; while the Carbon Clock at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change still has a quarter of a century left to run.

Needless to say, these deadlines –along with all those that came and went before it– are unscientific, agenda-driving drivel.

What most alarmist fail to realize is how incredibly complex Earth’s climate system is. The margins for error in the IPCC’s own models are truly immense. How they can even attempt to tell us anything with any certainty based on those models is the joke.

The IPCC was created by the UN for the sole purpose of pushing its AGW agenda; and no real world observations, no matter how contradictory to that agenda, will get in the way.

Just look at past narrative shifts as the real world observations altered. We’re now to believe a catastrophically warming world also means more record snow and more record cold, not less as was previously prophesied.

But reality is fast catching up with these politicized bodies, and real world observations are soon to become insurmountable: The Sun is shutting down (relatively); cloud cover is increasing; as is volcanic activity; all four magnetic fields could be going out of phase; and La Niñas are becoming the dominant ENSO pattern — the upshot of all this will be undeniable global cooling.

Prepare.

At the time of making these claims, al gores family owned a small nickel mine and were worth a modest $15million.
    Now he is worth $500million!
Absolutely nothing to do with pushing battery vehicles which uses nickel.
And I am not in any way insinuating that he is making money from the hundreds of billions being spent by governments fighting co2… 🤔

(P.s, 20yrs and hundreds of billions spent and CO2 hasn’t dropped not a single part per million…🤔)

Last monetary I saw a couple of weeks ago by the United Nations is that
Achieving Net Zero by 2050 will cost $125 TRILLION!
That kind of money can buy a lot of bad science!!!

Last coatings I had seen was $150tr. (But what’s $25rd between ‘climate deniers’?)

Especially when you consider a molten salt reactor costs $1.5billion.

The money has been badly spent on disastrous projects, solar where you have little sunshine, wind that is only a little better than solar. Both being CO2 intensive in materials & manufacture.

And all that money spent so far has made no difference, at all!

The money would’ve been better spent on cleaning hydrocarbon emissions and developing synthetic fuel
Even plastics (from landfill or ocean) can be turned into diesel by ‘Pyrolysis’.

    Animal farm comes to mind.
AGW is not science. There is no empirical data to argue on behalf of the AGW crowed. The dozens fo “computer models” have been wrong. There has never been a real scientific debate.
Yet we forge on with an unbridled political push. We are destroying the greatest economy the world has ever known, the greatest equality of humans, the best standard of living, the least human oppression, healthy ecosystems, clean air, clean water, sanitary living conditions, etc, etc, etc. The populace is going along with this movement withe no fight and with out questing.
Animal farm, we know how this story ends.

I guess the masses want forests to be cut down and more dirty smoke from fireplaces and wood burning stoves. When people get cold they will do whatever it takes to warm up. There will be no stopping that catastrophe. Just drill baby drill, frack baby frack , and build atom splitting nuclear technology and where it makes sense use solar, wind and biomass. The kooks and dandies no not what they do.

One big windstorm here in SW Florida, we have what looks like
a BiLLION TONS of trees down, hauled off to a landfill or burning by FEMA.
It could have been chipped and Pelletized, then shipped to Ukraine
where they need it, a REAL Humanitarian gesture.
I estimate I have 10 years of wood produced electricity on the ground now
from that little EXTREME windstorm Ian.
I really don’t care to hear another “EXTREME WIND WARNING” again this lifetime.
I hear Insurance Companies are DENYING Wind Damage settlements as the
wind blew faster than the policies allowed!!! Some system that is!!!

      It isn’t just people.
In the U.K, in order so not to burn coal, we now use the Drax power stations to generate electricity.
Each one burns over 7 million tonnes of wood pellets each year to produce electricity. This requires 14 million tonnes of green wood, because pellets must be dried and compressed before they can be burned as fuel.
We have 8 Drax power to and get 70% of our pellets from America where they are cutting down millions of carbon living trees each year.
Then they have to be shipped across the Atlantic.
How is that beneficial to anyone except those who thought up this inept scheme?

If this solar cycle (SC25) isn’t abbreviated because of feeble output it should reach its peak in July of 2025. Earlier if it is abbreviated as many suggest it will be. It appears it will hit its peak with a downward trend in temperatures already in play.
A can’t speak for Europe but here in the states we have a party in power wasting money doing all the worming things like building flawed toys that will have underwhelming cold weather performance or even becoming parasitic in no wind conditions if they have blade & nacelle warming.
The other party is too timid to challenge
the AGW crowd no matter how many snowdrifts they have to cross to get to work.
We are going to hit July 2025 with absolutely zero preparations being made to try hold up in the GSM conditions.
    Time to
    Pray!

Without knowing it you pretty much summed up the situation in most of Europe.

In my neck of the woods; Bega Australia, we have seen monthly high averages lower than the long-term average high for a year and a half, bar last August. For most months the low average was higher than the LTA due to La Nina clud cover.
This month sees the low average at 10.6C against the LTA of 13.5, so minus 2.9 and the high average at 23.1C against the LTA of 25.1; a nice round two degrees below, despite continuing cloud. With the cold blast continuing I expect these figures to drop even further during the next week.
    Global Warming it ain’t.

The COP in 2009 was one of the coldest winters in modern history – so much snow it was difficult to get your private jet off the runway.

Just how much snow and ice will satisfy these idiots ?

Why are people who live in depressing life sapping frigid climates so afraid of a little warmth?

I live where the average annual temperature is 22°C – 7°C above the so called average global temperature – and I can tell you 2 months of “Winter”, 6 months of Autumn and Spring, and 4 months Summer is fine.

Australia has been over run by British people escaping the cold and bugger all go back.
